Nanaimo is located on the east coast of Vancouver Island, 113 km north of Victoria, and 55 km across the Strait of Georgia from Vancouver. Nanaimo, the Harbour city, is Vancouver Island's second largest city and known as the gateway to Vancouver Island.

Flying
You can fly direct from Vancouver on a short 15-minute flight from Vancouver International Airport to Nanaimo Airport, located 10 minutes south of Nanaimo. For service into Nanaimo Airport visit Air Canada or Nanaimo Airport.
Air transportation from Calgary International Airport to Comox Valley Airport located 1.5 hours north of Nanaimo is available. For service into Comox Valley Airport, visit Westjet Airlines or call 1-800-538-5696.
Air transportation from Canadian and American destinations is also available to Victoria International Airport, located 2 hours south of Nanaimo.
Frequent scheduled seaplane flights are available from Vancouver Harbour to Nanaimo Harbour (short 25-minute flight), docking 2 blocks from the Vancouver Port Authority docks.
